New York: Where We Stayed & What We Did

New York this time around was just a stop on our way from Colorado to the east coast. Niagara Falls was a big bucket list item, which happened to be perfectly in the middle of Colorado and Maine. We have seen many other RVers with a similar route involving a quick stop at Niagara Falls. So while we only made one stop, we thought sharing our New York RV route would still be helpful. However, next time, upstate New York will NOT be a quick stop. We can’t wait to explore more of it’s beauty, as this trip left us wanting more!

WHERE WE STAYED

Four Mile Creek State Park- Youngstown, NY

When choosing a place to park the RV near Niagara Falls, we had lots of options! We originally thought it would be fun to stay on the Canadian side. However, we didn’t know all the items that you are not allowed to bring across the border until the last minute. We had to scratch that idea since we were unprepared. But we were so thrilled that we found Four Mile Creek State Park instead!

We scored a sweet spot that backed right up to Lake Ontario! This gave us us the most beautiful view from our back RV window all week. We loved the spot and the Niagara Falls area so much, we extended our “quick stop” and stayed a few extra days! It’s amazing how well landscaped the park is! The spots are spacious, there’s tons of grassy areas and gorgeous shady trees.

WHAT WE DID

Niagara Falls

Since Niagara Falls was the main reason we made this stop, we spend the majority of our time there. The drive from Four Mile Creek State Park to Niagara Falls was less than 30 minutes, making it super convenient. Read all about our activities and why Niagara Falls was SO much more than what we expected in this post, “Niagara Falls: MUCH More Than Just Famous Waterfalls“. Or at least watch this funny video of us getting soaked during our jet boat tour with Whirlpool Jet Boat Tours. It was a blast! Either way, do yourself a favor and plan to do more than just take a look at the falls.
